Sandra Cochran
Mccurry
Dec 11, 1950 — Jun 8, 2025
Sandra Cochran McCurry
It is with great sorrow and sadness we report our beloved Sandra lost her hard- fought battle with ovarian cancer on June 08, 2025
Sandra was born December 11, 1950 in Dalton, GA to Lake and Lorene Cochran. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, Ophie and Reno Cochran, and Mary Ida and Rev. T.R. Lovain, and her precious grandson, Jacob Kurasaka.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Randall; 4 children, Brent (Suzi) Harris, Sonja Freeman, Taesha (Andrew) Kurasaka and Teadra Mitchell; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Harris, Josh (Reana) Kurasaka, Jayden Kurasaka, Jessica Kurasaka, Jenna Kurasaka, Remington Kurasaka, Amber Freeman, and Rachel (Canaan) Ramos; 5 great grandchildren, Lydia, Bailey, Kolson, Richard (Ricky), Alex, and 1 on the way named Ronan; 1 sister, Peggy Jo Britton.
She had a number of dogs over the years that she really loved. Her life long dream was fulfilled when her Anatolian Shepherd, Jolene, received a written invitation to the Westminster Dog Show. She, her son, and the dog's handler traveled to New York for Jolene to be shown. Most of her show dogs became grand champions. Up until she became too ill, she was an active and dedicated member of Conyers Kennel Club volunteering to serve in many capacities throughout her affiliation with this organization.
Sandra grew up in the Lakeview/ Ft. Oglethorpe GA area and graduated from Lakeview High School. Sandra attended Dekalb Technical College. Early in her marriage, she and her husband moved to the Stone Mountain/Snellville GA area.
She was loving, kind and generous to a fault. She was a great cook. The family says she made the world's best chocolate pound cake. She always enjoyed big family dinners where there was enough food for an army.
She will be truly missed. We loved her so very much
Services will be held at Westside Baptist Church on Monday, June 16 at 1pm with Pastor John Weldon and Pastor Dave Wilson officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church two hours prior to the service at 11am
